The two groups of posters acquired by the Library are of contrasting visual effects and highlight how art has been used to communicate with people in a pandemic.
The Wuhan posters were produced right after the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. They depict respect and support for healthcare workers in Wuhan. Through the encouraging messages, the works seek to draw a collective effort to fight disaster. The group of education posters by the Hong Kong Department of Health focus on promoting awareness of COVID-19. Targeting at diverse ethnic communities, the same graphics about health tips are illustrated in Hindi, Vietnamese, Bahasa Indonesian, and Tagalog languages. The slogan is “Together, we fight the virus”.
