In the confines of a garden an ornamental lake rock rises abruptly upwards. Hibiscus and young chrysanthemums grow thickly in front and behind, infusing the scene with an autumn air. Two young children play with a small balancing toy made with dates. With focused concentration, their expressions appear remarkably real to life. An assortment of toys is arrayed upon another round stool. Two cymbals are seen on the ground beside, one up, one other facing down. The painting is unsigned but carries a poem by the Emperor Qianlong.
