Inscription: 犬與吾俱老, 相看兩愈親, 念年長憶故, 易服不趨新, 晚步爭前後, 顰眉識喜嗔, 世情無可說, 癡義問何人. 荷馬史詩言, 奧德秀斯出征二十年後歸, 家鄉人皆不相識, 獨其犬猶識戀之, 見奧德賽卷十七. 列子說符篇及韓非子說林下載, 楊朱之弟楊布, 衣素衣而出. 天雨, 解素衣, 衣緇衣而返. 其狗不知, 迎而吠之, 楊布怒, 將撲之. 楊朱曰, 子無撲矣, 子亦猶是也, 嚮者使汝狗白而往黑而來, 豈能無怪哉. 此解說固佳, 然漢竇玄妻古怨歌云, 衣不如新, 人不如故, 則楊布之狗固不趨新而念故也
