A portion of the Great Wall of China

This wall was built during the 3rd century, B.C. It is 1,250 miles long, and was built as a continuation of other defences already existing to seal China against the foreigner. Until 1862 no Europeans were allowed to travel in China. Now they may be found in every Province. There are to-day about 3,700 Christian Missionaries in the whole Chinese Empire.
