傳說該處海灣水淺,古時稱為「淺灣」,清朝康熙年間(1669年)一度放寬遷界令時,有大批客家人遷入,約建有二十六個村落,1898年納入香港範圍。另一幅是位於荃灣的中國染廠。
This New Territories town’s name is a homophone for its original name, Ch'ien Wan, meaning shallow bay. During the Qing dynasty the area was settled by the Hakka people. The following sketch is of China Dyeing Works Limited in Tsuen Wan.
