A hoary pine tree and ancient cypress grow side by side. The old trunks and branches of the cypress uncoil in wild profusion while its forked branches spread out in every direction. The two trunks of the pine tree rise directly upwards, piercing the clouds. In the background the artist added a stone cliff, dense and pressing, with hardly any spare room. From its highest reaches comes a flying stream, which suddenly brings an open lightness to the tightly packed composition. The painting is signed and titled by the artist.
