原本是元朗市西北部的一條圍村，周圍是一大片魚塘（基圍）。1980年代開始發展成一個新市鎮，魚塘亦被填平而成今貌。
Originally part of Yuen Long, this area was surrounded by fish ponds. In 1980, development began on a new town.
