觀塘舊作官塘，是「官富鹽塘」之意，1950年代開始發展成為香港主要工業區，1979年地鐵在此設觀塘站。
Kwun Tong was originally government salt yards. This area developed rapidly in the 1950’s to become an important centre of industry.
